Rotate Video Online

Fix sideways and upside-down videos — rotated in your browser with nothing uploaded.

A video shot with the phone held the wrong way, a camera mounted sideways, an old clip that imports rotated — orientation problems are common and weirdly annoying to fix, since most players offer no rotation control at all.

This tool physically rotates the video frames and writes a correctly-oriented MP4, so it plays right-side-up everywhere — no player settings or metadata tricks involved. Processing happens in your browser; your video is never uploaded.

How to rotate video online

  1. 1Drop your sideways or upside-down video into the box.
  2. 2Choose the rotation that fixes it — 90° clockwise, counter-clockwise, or 180°.
  3. 3Click Rotate Video and wait for processing.
  4. 4Download the corrected MP4; check it plays the right way up before deleting the original.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my video sideways in the first place?

Phones record orientation as a metadata flag rather than rotating the actual pixels, and not all players honor that flag. This tool rotates the real frames, which every player understands.

Does rotating lose quality?

The video is re-encoded at high quality (CRF 21) since the pixels themselves change position. For typical footage the difference is not visible.

Which direction do I need?

If the top of the scene points left, rotate 90° clockwise. If it points right, rotate counter-clockwise. If everything is upside down, use 180°. When unsure, try clockwise first — it's the most common fix.

Is my video uploaded?

No — rotation runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly.
