Does my video get uploaded anywhere?
No. The video is processed entirely in your browser using WebAssembly (a browser build of FFmpeg). Your file never leaves your device, which also means trimming starts instantly instead of waiting for an upload.
What video formats can I trim?
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and most other common formats. The trimmed clip is exported as an MP4 (H.264 + AAC), which plays everywhere.
Is there a file size limit?
There's no hard limit — because nothing is uploaded, the only constraint is your device's memory. Files up to around 2 GB generally work well in modern browsers.
Will trimming reduce my video quality?
Not in the default Fast mode — it copies the original video data without re-encoding, so quality is bit-for-bit identical to the source and the trim completes in seconds. Frame-accurate mode re-encodes at high quality (CRF 22), where any difference is imperceptible for most footage.
Why does my clip start slightly before the time I chose?
Fast mode can only begin a clip at a keyframe, which video encoders place every few seconds — so the cut snaps to the nearest keyframe before your chosen start. If you need the cut on the exact frame, switch to Frame-accurate mode; it re-encodes the clip, which takes longer but cuts precisely.
